Have you ever wondered how clean Boston Harbor is? The answer is coming to your mailbox!

Each June, residents receive a detailed report on their drinking water describing where it comes from, how it is treated and the results of testing to assure them of the water’s safety. This year, MWRA is sending out a one-time report (PDF) on the public health and environmental benefits that have been achieved through the Boston Harbor Clean-up Project, which includes the Deer Island Treatment Plant and the Long-Term Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Plan, as well as other improvements to the regional sewer system.

The report is being mailed to each household in the sewer service area over the next few weeks. This goal of the report is to inform and assure residents that the $4.5 billion invested in these projects was worthwhile and that the results are indisputable.
